The still life, Eucharist, is a visual meditation on God and the philosophies by which people comprehend God. The candle symbolizes God's word, and its light is a symbol of sacred illumination and the spirit of truth. It brings light to God's revelations, which can be disguised to the common man. The apostles were able to see the light deeply hidden in the holy writ.
Eucharist can be viewed either as a candle flame or as a central illuminated figure surrounded by 12 standing figures. These two levels of visual meaning in the image represent the two layers of meaning in the Holy Scriptures. The wax ladder symbolizes the connection between people and God. It's a symbol of help to people showing them the way up.
In 2007, Victor Bregeda released the Eucharist II.
