Through the interaction of polar opposites (female and male, represented by the apple and the knife) humanity was formed. From the knifeís cut of the apple, people are forming from the dripping juice. We see the peel of the apple (female) shown connected to the earth (also the female principle: mother earth). The knife is shown as connected to the constructs of humanity (right side of painting). On the left side of the painting, a bridge is being constructed between the buildings (male principle) and the apple (female principle).
